International Women's Day 2023.

Happy always precedes recognized events, international or local. But is the International Women's Day 2023 a happy one?

The struggle for gender equality continues. So NO it's not a happy one. Just the other day, the BBC documentary showcased how much our economic power is tied to men. Men in managerial positions using sex as a tool to make desperate women who want to feed their families fall in line or go hungry. The happenings in those tea plantations were soul wrenching and heartbreaking.

So NO, there's nothing to be happy about.

Women still earn less than men, look at Hollywood of all the places, starring actresses earn lesser than their male counterparts. You'd expect a shining example from Hollywood but nah! Same old story.

Look at intimate partner violence. This one sucks the energy out of me. Women die at the hands of boyfriends, husbands, jealous exes/side lovers and brothers.

In the digital space, women are more targeted by cyberbulling, cyber stalking, blackmail, among others. Creating a safer online space for women is our priority this year.

Women this, women that, we're still suffering A LOT.

So, the struggle continues....
