Impacting pregnant young women and girls and with epilepsy in Cameroon
Feb 16, 2022
update
Young women and girls face significant discrimination. However, despite the existence of an international treaty that provides guidance on how to eradicate this, our leaders are absent. They do not engage with the communities, much less with the women and girls that face such discrimination.
Being pregnant, having been victims of GBV or dealing with epilepsy pose additional challenges. They sometimes feel and are abandoned or are left out because of their situation.
Because of this, I have decided to conduct awareness-raising talks and workshops, as well as figure out a way to provide the appropriate treatment for women and girls with epilepsy.
Ever since I started conducting this work, I have reached 330 women from November to December; then 472 participated in a workshop. From the 2nd of January to the 26th, I reached 528 women. Since then, and until 2nd February, 186 more women have joined my workshops.
