Impacting deaf girls through the use of digital tools

update
When I started empowering women with disabilities especially deaf girls with economic skills I was worried about getting markets for their produce and also an easier way out to communicate with buyers. The sociopolitical crisis had also just began and later on intensified. Covid19 also came along and made the situation worst. I was super excited to go on the featured change maker program. It opened up my brains to strategies I could use to bring visibility to the work the Ladies and girls were producing. It also made communications with potential buyers easier as the girls affixed labels on the shoes and also use text messages to debate on prices. Using digital tools also helped reduce the communication gap as many people cannot communicate in Sign language. I can never ever thank the World Pulse enough for all the courses offered us during the course of this program. There are other benefits we have had as a result of being part of this program
- Using digital skills increased their businesses as more people could have access to their produce.
- It also help to develop competitive edge as they had to search more beautiful designs of what they were producing since the market was highly competitive.
-Digital skills also produced new ways of working. These ladies were able to download more complex designs and learn to produce them from YouTube videos a thing they were not doing before the program started.
- Digital skills also helped increase revenue especially as more visibility meant more sales thus increase in revenue.
These ladies also through their digital skills build more customer relationship. Some buyers began buying whole sale to retail in their shops.
Above all these girls developed more interest in using the internet even for searching information that would benefit them apart from their businesses.
I sincerely thank the World Pulse team and all trainers on the program for making sure we get the most out of the program.
