Impact of COVID 19 on women’s mental health

The past six to seven months have been more confused, unsure, and worrying for everyone globally due to the pandemic.  Compared to men, the stress level and depression faced by girls and women are too high. There may be variety of reasons.  Most of my friends in my very own city who are working in different companies shared their experience with me which made me to write this post.

Managing the domestic works, doing office work through online, taking care of the kids and monitoring the online school work of their children have changed their life style completely than before. I feel imbalance in just anyone of the challenges is pretty much enough to cause stress for them. They all play the role of a mom, daughter in law, sister in law, a teacher for their children, a cook, etc. But the situation is not as before. It is completely a different era now.

Each of my friends expressed different stress levels. One of my friend expressed that she got loss of concentration and sleep problems due to office work load and managing children and home at the same time, whereas before the pandemic she is used to be highly motivating and joyful in managing her family and office works.

Another friend with two kids shared this  challenging situation   and work demands place their occupation at additional threats with cut in the salary too, at times. In the case of female-headed families definitely the situation would be too worse in taking care of  themselves, office work and their family member needs.

This gave a warning awareness for me about women’s health during this pandemic.

The solution can be like “each families and the entire society should be sensitized about effect of Covid-19’s on women those who are working in the direction of addressing inequalities.

A big salute to the BRAVERY and MANAGING SKILLS of all the women those who are taking care of their family and office works  during this pandemic.
