ICT eye opener

I'm working with women and girls who are survivors of sexual abuse in  my community, most of them were school drop out after gotten pregnant and gave birth. Me and my colleagues went to see the area member in Parliament who heard our case and brought up an ICT learning center where they were introduced to the ICT world and have broaden their understanding and a better view of the sector many have gotten jobs through it, some are secretaries, some come back to teach at the ICT. Others go an extra mile and decided to go back and study since they can now pay for their fees.

We can now work online,

We can now do businesses transactions online,

Communicate through emails,

We are connected with other women and girls world wide through WORLD PULSE.

And this is one of our greates achievement we as women.

Chalenges faced

Network subscription is of the lowest quality hence not very reliable sometimes

The ratio to girls and the computers is 4:1 hence practicals becomes very tiresome and time consuming.

Many of us only interact with the ICT industry while in classes since none of them have smartphone hence limiting them to only what learnt in class.

I thank my friend madam marry for introducing me to the ICT world. Now i can do alot of things with my phone.

For sure ICT is an eye opener.
