I was not raised to wash the Plates

Dear Mom
I wish it was your birthday today
Or just another mother's day
for I have things to say

You did not raise me to wash the plates
And I thank you for that
You never asked me to behave
Nor made me fit into that pretty pink dress

Rather, you taught me to respect
And I thank you for that
Yes there were times when you made me listen
to which i rebelled, most of the times

But as the time went by
I realize you wanted me to listen
listen in between the lines
that I was not raised merely to wash the plates
And I thank you for that !!!
