I Lost to Win

5-22-23

I learned something valuable this month of May. I had to learn it the hard way. I lost so many in the process of learning this. It’s that not everything that happens to me and not everything people say deserves a reaction. It’s true that a stimuli can cause a reaction in us, such as thoughts, memories, and feelings. But it takes time to actually learn how to stop yourself from allowing yourself to be affected, to feel the feelings and take time to process it before doing anything. To take time to clear your head and calm your emotions before responding. I learned that adding fuel to fire did me bad, and that giving attention to negativity just attracts more negativity. It takes having a lighter attitude in life to actually just remain chill and not take everything seriously and personally. I know I learned the hard way, but I’m fine. I lost people but I also saw who will stay with me. People judged me but I saw their true colors. You see, it is hard for me to follow people’s advice when I don’t understand it fully. I had to go through the process of learning myself and that involves making mistakes and learning from it. In the process of learning, I saw who deserves my trust and my attention. In the process of learning, I lost. But in the end, I still win. I still win because in the end, I gained a valuable lesson. If you feed negativity, it grows. But if you stop and focus on all the important things than people who throw you mean words, people who put you down, you’ll just get better. You don’t go down the same path they are going. The world.. it’s a cruel place with cruel people. But you can choose to see the difference you want to see. If I want negativity to stop, I must stop feeding it and start focusing on planting seeds of positivity in myself, in people, in my community. And if you water those seeds, then flowers will bloom and life will be so much better for you and for the people around you. I lost, but in the end, I gained these valuable lessons.
