How we organized a festival to celebrate women’s voice 🗣️

Team of 5 girls célébrations suring their évent at night

The Founder, Director of France, Évents manager, communication apprentice and I

At the moment of looking for an internship, i had to find one that fit my involvement and my values as well as my aspirations to get more skills, notably in event management.

I had known Empow’Her for a few years and had dreamt of their festival in a third place i had discovered in Paris.

Knowing they were looking for someone in events management, I was thrilled I could participate to the organisation of such an event !

I was even more thrilled when I got the job : it was the beginning of 6 great and intense months, the first 3 being around the organisation of the festival celebrating women’s voices. 🗣️

The festival was born in 2020 with the idea to put women under the spotlight and give the mic to inspiring women : writers, entrepreneurs, artists, searchers, women of power… a festival tackling different topics during 3 days with conferences, workshops but also music and art!

To organise such a festival, we were a small team working to prepare the place and its spatial organisation, find experts to intervene in panels around pre-defined topics, find small creators and women entrepreneurs for the market, recruit and train volunteers to help the staff during the 3 days and organise all the logistical aspects ⚙️

During summer we work regularly on the different aspects and everything goes faster in September… until mid-September when the festival is finally here ! 💥

We welcomed +5000 participants, +200 experts and partners, 130 volunteers and 40 creators 💪

We welcomed french great names : Sandrine Rousseau, Assa Traoré, Camille Froidevaux Metterie, …

We tackled great subjects and especially surroundings around different identities : women in politics, being a black women nowadays, being a gen-z activist… but also hosted workshops on how to launch podcasts, how to create a third place, how to create a more inclusive workplace for trans people among other things.

It was a delight to hear feminist perspectives  and meet incredible and inspiring women : they really are everywhere ! I am so glad I could participate in the success of this event and find myself so many role models.

Women are power 💪💪🏽💪🏿
