Healing Foods

To be honest, I don't really cook that much. I found this book at a used book sale and liked what it had to offer. It is titled: Healing Foods from the Bible. I am not a part of any organized religion but spirituality is a neat aspect of all religions. Here is a recipe!

Take the finest products of the land in your receptacles and carry them down to the man as a gift: a little balsam, and a little honey, labdanum and resinous bark, pistachio nuts and almonds. (Genesis 43:11)

Haroseth

3/4 cup of chopped almonds,
walnuts and or other nuts combined
3 cups of chopped apples
3/4 cup of sweet red wine or
substitute grape juice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup of chopped dates
1/2 cup of rasins

Combine ingredients and serve immediately or chill for later

This recipe is noted to be used during Passover meal. The book shares the idea that giving a gift of nuts is an ancient traditional way of offering peace. This tradition has been passed on for years. The Haroseth is to symbolize the mortar that Hebrew slaves used to build Pharaoh's pyramids. I interpret it as a way of honoring slaves for their hard work.
