Girls Are Gradually Taking Over, Wakeup the Boys.

Listening with full attention.

Futuristic defines in a Girlchild.

It is of importance to note, the rate at which attention are being given to Girls over Boys in our modern environment. I am talking about Nigeria, Africa.

Years back, especially in Northern Nigeria, almajiris thrived and unfortunately, still thrives. More of boys are seeing roaming about streets, parks and corners of uncompleted structures in the streets.

As much as people believe that more premium is placed on boys than girls, more boys are still left at the mercy of their personal and independent abilities. Pity. This is evident in the rate at which girls are empowered all the time while the boys are neglected.

It is a common scene if not a tradition up Northern Nigeria to find the boys fending for themselves as from as early as their teens. Boys of less than fifteen years are found on the streets with plates in hands, looking for their daily bread. From experience, you don't leave your food to drink water at restaurants unless you done eating. If anyone tries to, the leftover meal would have automatically disappeared into the hands of the almajiris.

It still amuses me, the degree of the illiteracy that would make a parent show such a carefree attitude towards their own children. No matter the matter. Idle hands, people say, are the Devil's workshop. Most of these boys grow up to miscreants, bad instruments in the hands of politicians and to other social vices.

As the boys add years, they become trucks back boys. They follow trailers carrying goods hundreds of kilometres away from their home towns to neighburing towns and cities without being sought after by their parents. Most of them may never be seen as they might have slept and fallen off behind the heavy duty goods bearing trailers and trucks in the middle of the night and without the knowledge of their circumstantial masters.

A few number of them may be favoured by Providence and later make it through the storms of life, no matter the weather condition. For years, they go about in one robe like goat before they are able to find their feet in different territories they later find themselves. No news from home, no news goes back home from them either.

Sometimes I wonder why a child at all, ever the gender, would be so neglected to cater for himself with such a reckless abandon. I keep on wondering how such boys would be received, later, when they finally survive the storms and are reunited with their parents? I also wonder what reasons and excuses their parents would offer for such an attitude and inhumanity towards their own biological children?

While in other parts of the same amalgamation called Nigeria, male gender are celebrated and treated like the king they may never become. Not having one is tantamount to not having a child at all and it could deny such parents positions of authority in the community they belong.

In most Nigeria homes of late, girls are not commonly seeing on the streets, except in few cases. Parents of girls have taken to sending the girls on divers of trade learning, ranging from Fashion Design, to Sewing, Cakes baking, Face makeup and makeover, Hearties to buying and selling of articles. Girls children are being encouraged and supported also in the areas of online marketing of goods, apart from ICT trainings.

Like in most Nigeria homes down South, where the male gender carrys more value, still the girls are not commonly seeing on the streets, except in few cases.
On the other hand, as more valuable to them as the boys seem to their parents, they are still seen in wasting their future potential on unprofitable internet and cyber frauds, in most cases. They engage in TV and Video Games, Watching football for fun and other lounge games.

The implication of this is, by the time both parties are ripe and ready to enter into the future they both are going to live in, the Girl children are almost well equipped with those materials and provisions that make like sweet to live in, while their suitors are still backing laptops up and down, looking for how to interpret the strange tongues spoken by the unknown future.

The probable way out of that is to carry the boys along in all the empowerment program of all sectors.

It becomes imperative on parents, most especially, to pay functional attention on their boys as they do their girls, if truly they rely on them as carriers and ambassadors of their family lineage and legacies

powerment is being interpreted in National, international and global development and sustainable goo..o,als, the gender equality should also be paid attention to, lest the inequality changes direction from the girls to the boys.

I am citing my immediate environment as typical examples, the Girls are gradually taking over. Concentration is being shifted towards girls empowerment, in our modern family setups at the expense of their boys counterparts.

A check out on our university performance, the girls, despite multitasking, still have higher CGP than the boys. The Girls are being well oriented than the boys, forgetting that these well equipped girls would be hooking up with those boys the systems are neglecting and they both shall be living in the same future.

Wake the Boys up. Girls are taking over. The future belongs to both gender.
