Doctors know that genes influence hypertension risk. But results from the Strong Heart Family Study indicate that your biology doesn't have to be your destiny.



Researcher followed over 3,000 Native Americans, a population that may be predisposed to hypertension, and found that a host of lifestyle factors like exercise exerted a stronger influence on blood pressure than genes, which only accounted for about 15% of blood pressure variability.
