As per my view this theme is not a medicine, curing disease however, it is a supportive plan which can be successful only when it will be supported by all of us.
Though we believe that the world has changed its norms and that old faulty practices are diminished, but unfortunately Gender bias is still a very big issue. It is an issue that many people differ in its definitions depending on one's views. Primarily gender bias is all about the differences in the position, authority and prestige women and men have in societies.
Women constitute about one half of the global population, but unluckily they are placed at various disadvantageous positions due to gender bias. They have been the victims of violence and exploitation by the Male dominated society.
Women are still regarded as second class citizen. She is subjected to all kinds of humilation, discrimination, violence and also denied of various opportunities in different spheres of life.Even in the 21st century, having so many legal and constitutional rights women have not been given their due place.
Gender bias cannot be fully eliminated merely by the legal and administrative measures. The educated people especially youth should develop a concept of a gender equal society-a gender equal society would be one where everyone can be themselves.
Everyone should try to understand that true equality is not the superiority of Women but the equal status of man and woman.Further achieving gender equality requires the engagement of women and men, young boys and girls, it is everyone's responsibility.
Above all we need some attitudinal changes on the part of both men and women.Awakening of the collective conscience is the need of the day.Change of heart, attitude and of course mind is what is needed. The emphasis should not be on "relief and rescue"but on "independence and empowerment ".
In a nutshell there is a need for change in perception towards women. The Human society would be most advantaged only if women are treated equally and are not deprived of their basic rights.
As B.R.Ambedkar has rightly said,"I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved ".
Let us hope for a society where women are not discriminated because of their gender and everyone should understand that "it Is a woman who keeps the race going" and that we should not "consider woman cursed and condemned, when from women are born leaders and rulers."
