Gender and Health

Wonders will never cease to be there in this world as long as humanity has not been wiped from planet earth.

Ahahhaha just last week there was a major Gender forum in respect for the works of Late.Hon.Wangari Maathai in Kenya.Citizens converged to take stock of the gains made in the last ten years since gender issues have been raised e.g Millenium Development Goals 5

As I sat through the forum, issues raised of concern to me was that the majority of African women are dying early of cervical cancer and other reproductive cancers too.

One of the main reasons in cervical cancer of disturbance to me ,was that culture has raised the girl child to have lesser voice in matters of sex. Some participants expressed that in polgamy families the man can continue to pass on the virus to his wives, and if he has four ,one woman might die of cancer of cervix in later years. That majority of the women in marriage might never have expressed sexual enjoyment or even reached orgasm for fear of being branded promiscous,so through lifespan a woman,s joy to express her femininity is suppressed till death do them apart.

A girl is born and the marriage negotiations starts taking place, you reach puberty men dictate what you are to wear and when, you adulthood and the community starts worrying why you have not been married,You get into marriage and the spouse wants to dictate the number of children to have and name.

So when will women ever enjoy their lives? I
