GBV Training initiative impact .2021 and goal 2022.

GBV Training Initiative impact,2021and goal 2022.

We work in southwest Somalia, where rape of girls is on the rise, and we launched a strong anti-rape campaign last year, 2021.These acts were repeated in the countryside and in the city.

In light of the recurrence of these acts of rape against young girls. We hope to address the growing number of rapes in southern Somalia in recent years against 30-3 year-old girls. We recorded it last year. In the city and field, there are 200 cases.

We have started to work with the school authorities to schedule school holidays during which we provide training and outreach to the girl students, and we have reached a large number of girls, most of which are during the school holidays in June and July. School holidays and women living with IDPs are also available at all times.

We are a volunteer staff of 17. We travel to the fields and we also sit down with the regional administration to give us permission to carry out our activities. Girls are frequently raped in most cases, which occur between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at night. This training has been very useful for rural and urban women as we provide a lot of information about rapists and the times they often rape girls, which we have found in most cases. It is 6–7 p.m. at night.

This awareness is very important for women and girls. When we tell them how to prevent rape against a girl, there will be fewer cases of happens we have seen in recent months, it should be avoided, at least to survive even a single one. Our hope and aspiration is that they will survive as women and girls.

For example, in regions where girls are sent to fetch water for the family, they used to send it alone. The wells are located 1 km away from the houses. The rapists were on the way, as the place was deserted and the family was far away. We told them to join the girls in groups. During the outreach, they told us to join the girls as a group to help end the practice of rape. And families get help with water trucking.

In the capital, the benefits of this training are that schoolgirls understand the times when the rapists walk by, and they stay home at the time or accompany the parents when they leave at 6-7 p.m., which we recommend, which can save at least one or more lives, we hope. On the city side, we conduct this training in a rented hall. In the countryside, they volunteer in wooden halls to prepare and honor us.

There are two challenges 1-security situation: 2: small funding, and they don't like women who work hard. When we work hard, sometimes we face security challenges. which we resolve by negotiating authority and getting approval for work done.

As I have a lot of experience in this field, having worked for 14 years, it has been very easy for me to take advantage of my experience with women and girls.

I call for action to end GBV. I look forward to continuing this training and the campaign against rape. Our goal is to reach more than 30,000 HHs by 2022.
