Future for Women with Disabilities in Cameroon

I am a woman with disability passionate to empower women with disabilities and other vulnerable women in my community.  I seek to contribute to the growth and development by advocating for respect of rights and promote equal participation and inclusion of women and girls with disabilities at all levels of community life, breaking barriers for women with disabilities ensuring no one is left behind.

In other to achieve this, I have built my competences by training in a professional school and volunteering with civil society organisations in my country and internationally. I have set up a nonprofit http://cavp-cameroon.org/ that focus on the empowerment of women and girls with disabilities and other vulnerable women.

With these milestones, there are still some very important aspirations that I have as focus to make my vision sustainable so as to impact more people. I look forward to fund raise and seek partners, that can support me in constructing an inclusive digital empowerment center and safe space for women and girls with disabilities and survivors of GBV. I further want to connect with philanthropic organisations or individuals who can support needy children with disabilities by providing medical assistance, rehabilitation and school needs. I also wish to partner to seek ways for provision of startup kits to women and girls with disabilities and other vulnerable women to operate small businesses for sustainable livelihood and life free of GBV.

My challenges to quickly access the above-mentioned opportunities is really frustrating to me because it is a barrier for me to meet the needs of the neediest and impact more. So many times, I have tried to give up.  But when look into the bond and strong support system I have around me; the community of World Pulse Sisterhood, individual sisters on World Pulse, CARE US and other feminist organizations, I am assured this vision will be sustainable and impact women not just in my community but worldwide. Despite all these challenges, I have a great source of energy and support system which is the World Pulse Community and opportunities I can access through my public speaking skills. I feel energize to see the few women and girls I have impacting making strides. But I want to continue impacting and creating change.

I am taking a commitment to continue building my skills regularly, connecting to online and face to face networking platforms, building skills on advocacy and public speaking, proposal writing, storytelling and fund raising.
