Every Girl's Dream it to Belong

Every girl's dream is to be in school so that they can fit in and belong in society. For girls growing up in war and conflict zones, this dream can easily be smashed for so many reasons: First of all, they get to struggle with acquiring the basic necessities of life such as water, food, shelter, clothing, and secondly, dealing with other societal barriers. With these shortcomings, life seems to be even more challenging when parents have to choose between putting food on the table to avoid their children from going to bed hungry, versus purchasing school needs for their children to be in school. It gets even more complicated when boys have to be chosen to be in school over girls.
With this in mind, my team and I got to work to bridge this gap for some less privileged girls. Some generous donors after hearing about our intentions to get as many girls in the classroom as possible, were donated towards our Annual Back-to-School Jamboree which was held on August 28, 2022. My team was able to put together resources which was distributed to underprivileged girls in the Mile 1 neighborhood in Kumba, Cameroon. I am grateful that when tomorrow October 4 comes, many girls will return to school with pride and a spirit of belonging.
