I'm one of two \"regional delegates\" within EDFEO (ENIL a Driving Force for Equal Opportunities) which is a project within the PROGRESS initiative of the European Union. For further information about EDFEO and PROGRESS take look on our web site (http://www.enil.eu/). The task of both regional delegates is to counsel and represent ENIL members and other organizations as well as to support local and national Independent Living organizations to promote EU policies and the UN Convention in their countries. We will participate in conferences and workshops and develop Independent Living training events and are responsible for developing ENIL projects, searching for regional contacts and information. We will be looking for funding, to guarantee long-time financing of Independent Living projects and activities.
The responsibility for ENIL members and other organizations is divided in two parts. I am responsible for northern and eastern Europe - and therefore for your country.
It is our desire to keep in touch with your organization regularly. Therefore I send you information regarding the ongoing work within EDFEO today. These are perhaps interesting for you.
Momentarily, ENIL is looking for voluntary \"national correspondents\" who would regularly provide information about the situation in their country to us. We then process this news for our newsletter. Would you be interested in it? Of course we would support you as well as possible. It would be also possible that you get a press card.
ENIL is also working at the moment on a manual which shall help to apply for funding for Independent Living projects and to make the planning and execution of those projects easier. Perhaps you can help!
Are there special foundations or sponsors in your country? What is an exemplary approach? Is there any best practice? Which advice and information can you give?
What is happening in your country with the UN convention? Has it been ratified? What are peoples' thoughts on the convention? What are the problems? Let ENIL know...
Soon ENIL will have some examples on the Convention on the web-site. To get this information we need YOUR contribution.
We are also featuring this in our latest newsletter, along with good and bad disability practice form around Europe and interviews with ENIL board members; please contribute so that ENIL can be an active and informative site. If you want to subscribe to the newsletter go to http://mail.snake.de/mailman/listinfo/enil or access from the ENIL web-site.
