Empowering Teenage Mothers with life skills

Teenage mothers between 15 to 26 making hand made reusable sanitary pads.

On 26th August 2022, 7 volunteers joined me in 2 locations in the eastern part of Uganda to train teenage mothers and young kids how to make reusable sanitary pads under a project we named #InstantPads Uganda.

We trained reusable sanitary pads to 25 teenage mothers ranging from 15 to 26 years and left them with more material to make and practice making reusable sanitary pads.

Hearing their stories of how they became pregnant and dropped out of school during Covid 19 lock down, my heart felt a need to come back and not only check on hoe they are perfecting their skills but also train them on how to make reusable baby diapers for their new born children.

In the afternoon, we went to Jinja city and trained over 30 young girls between 4 to 15 in how to make reusable sanitary pads. Through testimonials shared and products visible, over 40 teenage mothers and children from the entire two groups were able to make these instant pads. The great need in this community has pushed me to go back into eastern Uganda to empower and equip more girls, mothers and boys on different life skills.
