Emergency: Iron Needed!

Recently as I advance towards age fifty,I have been noticing some drastic changes in my body and generally, my life. May i say at this point that the changes aren't always positive as I am getting concerned more and more as the days go by.

I have noticed a new trend! Getting my period twice a month. Initially,I was concerned as the first will show up in the first week and last for five days( normal number of days and flow). The a second phase starts by the last week of same month. This has continued and I had began to accept it when I noticed another trend- severe pains in my bones! I got alarmed at this point.

How old am I that I should begin having pains in my legs? I had asked myself without a hope of an answer.

In my school days ,I had been an athlete, doing the relay race, hundred meter dash  ,two hundred meter race ,long and high jumps. So I know the importance of my legs. Could it be that these legs are becoming weak now because I had over stressed them earlier? I had wondered aloud to myself.

I kept on taking my vitamins, not missing or skipping any ,yet ,my legs were still weak.

It was so bad,I couldn't take a ten minutes walk without stopping to rest on my way. It was a huge concern .And I couldn't imagine my life without  healthy functional legs.

I began an early morning forty-five minutes walk just so my legs could get stronger (.as I had thought my sedentary lifestyle may have contributed) ,yet ,no much improvement.  I hate the hospitals and wasn't ready to submit myself to the series of tests that may be recommended if I visited.

My twice a month period not abatting but I noticed that I got really exhausted after every period and it took me two weeks to recover but just as I make to fully get back on my feet, the next period kicks in.

Just when it seems I wasn't going to get to the root of this challenge, there appeared what seemed like a ray of hope- my sister!

She resides abroad and we had been talking on the phone when she began to narrate how peri menopause symptoms were dealing with her and making her life uncomfortable. She then went on to say she had to go for a blood work and they found out that she was very low on iron( she was going through the same leg pains as me) and that iron came highly recommended.

She said,Sister, look for iron tablets. Boom! I hit the pharmacies looking for iron tablets all to no avail..

I later got to know that many women in their peri menopause go short on iron and it deficiency can cause weak legs and muscle pain.

Then she came visiting early December and brought me two packs.Need I tell you that since I began taking the iron tablets that those pains are all gone?

I can walk for forty-five minutes now without muscle or leg pains of any sort.

Go check today if you are inching towards fifty and experiencing pains in the legs, you may just be in need of the iron supplement!
