Ecological catastrophe in Ukraine

Since the full-scale invasion of russia in Ukraine, thousands of civilian people, children and animals have died.

Something Kremlin called “military operation” now is turning into a genocide of Ukrainian national, destroying large cities and small villages, raping young women and robbing the houses.

Everything mentioned above is only a part of this cruel war. In this post, however, I’d also like to call the attention to the environmental catastrophe that has already occurred in many parts of the country.

First thing to consider is the fact that Ukraine is one of biggest nuclear energy producers in the Europe. We have 6 atomic stations, one of which, in Zaporizhzhia, is the largest in the EU. By entering the Chernobyl zone, Russia troops threatened the entire world — only mad people can use such a tactic, threatening the entire world and themselves.

Secondly, as a lot of towns and villages are still occupied, people living there have limited access to food, water, heat, staying there without electricity and internet. One of the worst examples is Mariupol. People there stay without food for weeks. There very also many cases of woman giving birth just in the underground.

People die in the streets. In the houses. Animals die because of hunger. And often there is even no chance to remove the dead bodies. In some regions people are buried in mass graves. However, it’s getting warmer and the bodies are lying everywhere and they start to decompose.

Last but not least, lots of explosions, fires and bombing. Since the start of the war there were many cases of petrol station and oil reserves bombing, which causes immense fires and release of chemicals into the air.

All in all, I have managed to tell you just a little fraction of what is happening in Ukrainian e and there’re many more things to be said but very few words to describe it.

We’re all praying for Ukrainian and our Armed Forces. And our beautiful nature.
