Seeking
Encouragement
My dream was to supports the right of the girls child, train girls on ICT, Coding and Digital skills, equip the girl child/single mother with educational materials, organizes vocational and entrepreneurship training for rural women, ensuring good governance, accountability and women participation in decision making as well as organizing health talks and programs where women health related issues are discussed.
I often wondered what it was like to be an innovator when I was younger. I used to imagine myself as one of the most well-known female innovators in the world when I was a young child. I adored making stuff. I liked experimenting and exploring. Everything I considered and hoped to accomplish with my time was shaped by this. It stoked my enthusiasm. I experimented and worked on solutions during that time.
Sadly, this kind of behavior was often seen as being reserved for men, especially since men dominated the sciences and information technology. My parents and the others around me didn't really encourage me. But I remained unmoved.
I was continuously told that instead of pursuing "unrealistic" aspirations, I ought to invest more time in developing myself as a woman. The majority of a woman's function in African society is still seen as being in the house. I can't say I completely disagree because a woman should still place a high value on her family and house. I disagree, though, with the notion that a woman should spend the majority of her life in the kitchen or any other room.
