Do you Menstruate on your fingers too?

I was planning what to do to Celebrate with the girls on Menstruation day when one of the workers around walked in.

She greeted me and said, I can see you are preparing for the program on 28th May 2026 .Well done ma.But can I ask you a question? It's been on mind since you told me about the Menstruation day seminar.

Then she asked, " Do you Menstruate on your fingers too?

I moved closer....This time I wanted to hear more.

She said ,she was at a place and everyone was talking about female's life and Menstruation. And one of the female at the meeting told them a story on how she didn't see her Menstruation for about 6months when she was 24years old and when she told a Big Sister in the family, she was told she's Menstruating on her fingers and her face .

I honestly didn't know when I smiled .

I called her to the office, asked her if she'd missed her Menstruation for months and she answered "NO".

Then I explained to her that no one Menstruates on finger and face. She was enlightened in her native language ( Yoruba) so she can understand what Menstruation is ,what is normal and what is not normal during Menstruation better .

If we don't change how we talk about Menstruation, another lady might ask same question

This gave me another perspective that we need to explain in native languages for everyone to actually understand Menstruation as a female dignity and need to prevent Menstruation poverty among girls /Female.
