Discovering my passion

I am a medical doctor and the CEO of an NGO Singularly Me Mother's Support Initiative- SiMMSI (www.singularlyme.org). Being a mother that escaped an abusive marriage I know how it feels. I realised that what helped me was my education, job and a supportive family. I realised many women have none of these. When I see women refusing to leave abusive relationships, in as much as it pains me, I understand. I realised we need to educate our girls. Give them all they require to develop agency. We need to financially empower our women too.

I moved to UK from Nigeria 2 years ago started earning a little bit more and decided to help fellow women and female children find their voices. That lead to the birth of my NGO. We have done a little. Just a drop in the ocean, really, But I am happy we are at least making a difference, one girl child, one woman a t a time.

What fuels me the most, is my daughters' desires to see  a society where women are seen to be equal to men.
