Disability Justice

  • As a person with disability myself finding the right concept to analyze the word disability Justice is a delima for me. Many a times am left speechless with happenings in our community about the above two interrelated words. Disability and Justice.I thought justice in another word will mean inclusion for persons with disabilities. This same inclusion mean giving

1. Jobs for PWDs

2. Giving them education and above all

3. Integrating them in our families  allowing our sons or daughters to marry them into our families).

Justices and or Inclusion we all know are two powerful but disguised words when used interchangeably. When we actively use these words, it literally means something is wrong.

Someone is left out, that all is not equal. It always on the media and every corner of any other gender activist, that makes me think at some point we using it without context

Excuse me to say, Before there is inclusion there must be productivity, again Inclusion goes with human resource. If there must be effective inclusion we must have ready the % of the disabled person ready and equipped for work.

Many at times disability organizations have reached out to institutions for employment of their members but when the contract is approved for the recruitment. The human resource are not there to fill that gap. Either the organization could not meet the target demand of the recruitment or Person with the disabilities themselves declined to pick the offer. Why?

What are the disability movement or organizations putting in place in order to do away of such imbalances. We must as an organization trained, and equip our members with the skills set needed before we demand for result.

Every organization or institutions depends on the productivity of its staffs or workers. How productive are we Person with Disabilities? Can we perform squarely like our able counterpart? Are we willly to compete with them?

These are sensitive questions to ask but the really will definitely hit us on the ground. We have gotten a lots of complain with low productivity with our members at work from their employers.

You see in most of findings except in optional few cases, it always with bad report employing PWDs in most competing fields or sectors. Employers complaint about spending must on PWDs but with few benefit(as in productivity).

I have seen schools or educational institutions willing to admit PWDs into their schools but can't find any due to lack of education from among our members(in other words not qualified). Let's look for scholarship for our members for further educational skills set. Today, you can sit in the comfort of your home and get a degree or certificate.

If we are advocating for disability justices, if we are fighting for disabled inclusion we must avail ourselves. Not only availability but be productive. Is it an excuse to report to work late because you think you are a PWDs? Is it the fault of your employer quering you due to neglences of you not signing attendance book because you are a visual impaired worker?

Someone can argue, these scenario can apply to the so called abled employee. However, we been one step ahead makes us stand out. It will open another opportunity for another pwd somewhere.

Lets be productive to be disability justify
