Disability is not inability. You too can thrive.

Voice to the voiceless

After being born with both legs, I heard from family members that I was attacked by polio while others said I was given quinimax injections while the last school of thought held that I was bewitched.  Whatever the school of thought,  one thing is clear I became disabled on both legs but thanks to God who gave me a dynamic mum who took me round some hospitals in which my left leg was restored buy the right leg remained and unfortunately died in a bid to restore the other leg. There I was left with a lone parent who continued the journey and we traced an orthopaedic centre where I was being given a brace till date.

Worthy of note is the fact that amidst being a disabled woman,  I never lost a sense of purpose even without a mum. I grew up with a very positive energy and grew up to be a leader back in my school days and was called up to speak for the disabled often times. Eventually I got pregnant without being married and became a single parent until I got married Eventually when my son was 18 years. Before marriage, I  engaged in entrepreneurial activities since I was the only parent to my son. After my first degree,  I engaged into businesses such as the sale of food etc. Today it is different as I am an administrator with the government of my nation and stand to encourage other disabled women who think they are disadvantaged because of their disability.  Determination is the key and trusting in God's ability is an added advantage to your success story.  You too can make it. Inspite your vulnerability as a disabled woman, you can push beyond the limit and achieve your goals. I pray someone be encouraged by this story.
