Disability inclusion through football Qartar 2022

Society has evolved and can't wait to express my appreciation for such a long waiting quest I dreamt on it fulfilment. Today, it was tears of joy for me when this my long awaiting dream came to past. Please who here watced the oopening game of the FIFA Qartar 2022? And do you got the picture? If you are yet to grab it please kindly let me .

I have always been a fun of football at tender age but I never express my self due to reasons:

1. Gender

2. Disability

3. Religion

Gender

Born as a girl in Africa and from an Islamic parents, I dare dream about playing football. The word football is masculine and must remain so if you are in my family. Boys and girls roles where define and you must obey, obey or face the consequences. Girls are molded into womanhood, we are meant to stay close home. Staying home means taking care of household works among such sweeping, washing dishes, cleaning, fetching water, cooking food for the family, washing clothes including that of your brother if you got any. As you are busy doing the above, your brother or nephew will be outside playing football with the friend. We were all girls but we got this type of nephew ooo hmm.

I remember myself and him him fighting over who must do the dishes the following day. We usually do all dishes after breakfast, when the time came he was already gone out on the field over an unnecessary football. I went to complaint to my mum and do you know the feedback I got from her? Please wait for it don't exist yet. My beloved mother told me that " if I was born of blood iI should not do the dishes" and that "I should go out and play?"

At this my old age these words still echoes in my ears like it was said yesterday. My mum was the type that beat and stare, if she stared she will not beat you but you will have preferred the bearings. I tell you after those above words I never argue with my nephew over dish washer till till till. Well, now we are all Equal nothing good came out of his youthful football else he will have been part of Ghana team in Qartar, what an irony.

Disability

As a girl child with a disability, I was afraid of declaring my love for football for a number of reasons: stigma, lack of accessibility and Self pity.

Stigmatism': community and friends stigma was my greatest fear, will I be accepted? what will they say about me? In Africa everything becomes anybody matter oo. It will not surprised you to see a full grown leave his or her necessary work only to walk thirty minutes to sympathize with a disabled footballer eeeii.

When they get there they will be like, Awww why do the parents of this kid allowed them to suffer? See me see trouble 🙄 🤔 ooo, what is your case, Are you the one suffering? Please come pass and go and take care of your home. The point am making is, with such a stigma no any disabled kids will dare pick up sporting activities.

Accessibility issues:

Bad sporting environment, come and see our stadiums here, stairs only no lifts or elevators. If you are a wheelchair user going to watch your team March played, you better eat double the portion you normally take else you faint while just climbing to pick up your seat. Then coming to the utilities puha don't go there, funs prefer to pee in canned containers and dispose it ha. How can we not do something good for ourselves? If you are using white cane please dropped it and get a personal guide, it will help you.

These all sum up to ignore Person's with Disabilities enjoying their sport activities.

Self pitism:

Due to the above challenges then society succeeds in making us self pity ourselves. We accept the situation society place on us with excuses, oh I can't do it or I don't fit there? Who told you? Get there and break that barrier. Be the first to set that record, the cultural barriers break it.

Religion

Last but not least the main barrier that hinder sport for people with Disabilities is religion especially the girl child. I am and impressed with the opening ceremony that highlighted disability oh wow Qartar hats off for you. I just want to believe you meant what you did. This also goes to all Islamic nations, I saw the depictions as an inclusion of disability, this means less stigma, more love, accessibility for pwd

in sport etc

The racial aspect I honestly want to over look that. I believe the west in already leading in the above points. You however will be a page setter for Qartar and because of your intergration of Disability and have accepted us as brothers and one humanity I promised to watch your games.

Assalamu alaikum Qartar
