Digital Ambassadors in 2022: Impact & Reflections

A yellow map with green World Pulse logos indicates the general areas where Digital Ambassadors are most active.

Digital Ambassadors lead events and tranings across 30 countries worldwide.

It’s that time of the year again where World Pulse Digital Ambassadors report on their events over the past 12 months - and once again, the results of their work are clear.  With their hands on their keyboards, and their feet on the ground,  the voices of women and girls are being heard louder and farther.

Since 2019, a total of 189 Digital Ambassadors across 32 countries have created tremendous impact online and offline

Reflections from 2022

“Being able to seamlessly partner with other ambassadors was very encouraging because it reaffirmed the belief that women can and do achieve more when they work in love and respect for the greater good. It energizes and empowers me to keep doing what I can do to make the world a little better because I know my voice matters.’’ - Arrey-Echi, Cameroon

In September, a total of 40 Digital Ambassadors reported on their events from the last 12 months from 15 countries.

Digital Ambassadors in 2022 collaborated together to bring  digital skills to more than 18,000 people  through a stunning 1,356 different events.

Ambassadors held a total of 3,563 events, training 18,401 people. From this,

  • 278 online events helped train 10,283 people.
  • 2,898 in-person events helped train 7,731 people.
  • 387 one-on-one sessions helped women and girls get extra support and encouragement to grow their skills.

In doing so, the 40 Digital Ambassadors trained across 33 different topics ranging from digital literacy, digital empowerment, activism, reproductive rights, entrepreneurship, leadership training, child marriage, economic power, menstrual hygiene, human rights, care-giving for children with disabilities, and more!

Visions for 2023

"Women in our community are rarely taught to raise their voices when any kind of injustice or abuse occurs. A woman has to raise her voice to take responsibility for herself. We can encourage women to raise their voices, to speak and hone their skills of speaking, writing and so on so that they can express themselves fearlessly.” - new Digital Ambassador Jafreen Alamgir, Bangladesh

In this spirit of celebration, we are excited to welcome 16 new Digital Ambassadors from 8 countries. They will be joining the World Pulse Amazons in helping lift the voices of women and girls worldwide. Here are some visions and plans for the coming year:

  • Encouraging women to raise their voices, share stories and amplify women's voices through content creation and dissemination.
  • Training on digital skills, professional and behavioral based trainings
  • Empowering women as entrepreneurs on confectionery,  baking and skin care skills training programs.
  • Encouraging equal access to public spaces for everyone especially women, through the use of crowdsourced data, community engagement and institutional accountability.
  • Campaigning for women’s involvement and inclusion in elections and in politics.
  • Supporting women migrants to raise their voice, demand rights and train them with digital skills that equip them for the job market.
  • Advocating for gender equality and supporting economic empowerment for women

“I was able to contribute to the education of two girls, one in primary(IDP) and the other in secondary school(from the Mbororo minority community). The little Mbororo girl whom I helped to attend school was a big lesson to the community where sending a girl child to school is not seen as important.”
- new Digital Ambassador Fola Fomduwir Carine, Cameroon
