Did you know that...

Did you know that Africa is...

The second largest continent in the world hampering approximately 700million people, three times the population of the USA?

Has immense untapped mineral wealth comprising 50% of world’s gold, 11% of diamond reserves, 40% of platinum, 8% of the world’s petroleum reserves and 12% of natural gas?

Is the poorest continent in the world that is mirred with steaming squalor, misery, deprivation and chaos?

‘In Western imagery, Africa is labelled as the dark continent... refering not only to Africa’s equatorial forests and the blackness of African skin, but also as a place where every form of darkness is found,’according to John Reader’s Africa; A Biography of the Continent.

My question is why Africa still remains a source of most evils against humanity, the poorest in the face of the earth yet it is rich in resources and untapped potential... Why has it taken the continent so long to unchain itself from the ‘resource curse’?

Just wondering...

Joanne.
