CREATIVITY CAN HEAL ANY WOUND
WRITING OR JOURNALING CAN HELP VICTIMS-SURVIVORS HEAL TRAUMA
Why do I feel that creativity can change your life? Because it saved mine. Imagination can take your life from empty to complete, from meaningless to profound, from aimless wandering too deep discovery. After escaping abuse, I struggled to escape my mind's imprisonment. Your mind can hold you hostage, unknown to you. It can keep you locked in a place of doubt and fear, even when nothing is pressuring you from the outside. The locks to our mental prisons are our beliefs about ourselves and the world.
There are a lot of therapies that can heal the trauma. One of them can be art. As a Book Award Author amazon.com/author/elenageorgiou of Live life to its fullest and never look back and survivor of Domestic Violence, I can also suggest journaling and writing. I used my writing as a healing tool to recover from trauma. Likewise, my books have healing writing tools to recover from past events. Creativity can heal any wound.
Creativity reduces anxiety, depression, and stress… And it can also help you process trauma. For example, studies have found that writing helps people productively manage their negative emotions, and painting or drawing allows people to express trauma or experiences that they find too challenging to put into words.
The emotions that victims of abuse experience are complicated and painful and take many people years to heal from. Part of what makes them so difficult to process is that abuse isolates people. Even when victims consciously recognize that the abuse wasn't their fault, the trauma of the assault can make them feel ashamed and powerless. As a result, many victims feel hopeless and unable to move forward.
Many victims don't want to talk to other people about what they went through, at least not right away, because telling another person can be like reliving the experience and making them feel even more vulnerable. Some people misunderstand victims because they can't express themselves or open up and be understood. Victims are voiceless because someone forced them not to have a voice.
I fought back. I said yes to life, yes to me, yes to my truth.
Despite all odds, I won.
I won back my voice, and so can you. Anyone can win their voice back.
Through writing, victims can create a safe space for themselves that is free from judgment. It can help them find clarity in their trauma, release their emotions, and process ways to move forward. Writing, along with other creative activities, is a way to exert agency and control. They give life meaning when life seems meaningless and cruel.
For me, journaling and writing became a habit from a young age that nobody taught me, but I felt that I needed to have a friend to tell all my secrets, pain, anger, and dreams; my journal became my friend who understood me, and also, it became my healing tool. My books have healing tools to help you uncover what's behind the scenes in your life, heal it, and move on.
If you meet a victim of abuse, don't judge them because you haven't walked in the victim's shoes. I heard people asking me why did you stay so many years in abuse. It's difficult for a victim to find the exit door and escape abuse. It took me many years to exit from this nightmare. After a long journey of reliving abuse for many years, I finally found the freedom door. It takes a lot of courage to open the door, walk away, and say no to abuse. But there is hope for a better tomorrow. I have opened the door, and so can you.
I offer an ideal workshop with tools and skills for your journey toward authenticity. If you want to know more about it or if you enjoyed my story and want to connect with me:
