Potential impact of corona virus on the lives and livelihood of women

The novel corona virus of 2019 impacted the livelihoods of women. The early closure of schools had a differential effect on women, who provide most of the informal care within families, with the consequence of limiting their work and economic opportunities. Travel restrictions cause financial challenges especially to cross border traders. The quarantine may affect the women’s access to physical, cultural security and sanitary needs. COVID 19 may lead to inadequate access to health care and insufficient financial resources to cater for the needs of both women and children, despite women doing most of the community vector control activities.
