What Is Mentoring? Mentoring is a relationship between two people with the goal of professional and personal development. The "mentor" is usually an experienced individual who shares knowledge, experience, and advice with a less experienced person, or "mentee."
I am so excited about becoming a Mentor , although I have worn that hat many times in my adult life , in different aspects , my last being as a Fashion Mentor for young Caribbean Designers , I am especially confident about doing it on this platform ,because I just completed the last co hort as a mentee , the experience was so amazing and i gained a friend and sister after my interaction with my Mentor EJ. I wanted to go through the course from the perspective of a mentee so I could understand what was expected of me and do my best to be an amazing mentor
Having read the stories of the experiences of other Mentor/Mentee teams , I think it is a very beneficial programme for everyone involved . A Mentor doesnt have to be a straight jacket kind of over seer of the Mentee, but rather a friend , a guide, a listening ear , a support or inspiration. At the end we both must feel like we have gained from the interaction.
Im eager to share my personality , my experience , my guidance with one of our new Mentee ,s .I look forward to sessions filled with laughter ,encouragement and support to see them grown beyound where they are now . I look forward to helping them identify a goal and giving advice and direction so it can be accomplished ,while motivating them to succeed .
