Hello World Pulse Sisters,
I am Pallabi Ghosh, an anti-trafficking activist from India. My work for the last decade was rescuing women, children, and youth from all kinds of trafficking. But unfortunately, throughout this journey. I have time and again realized that all the work that many of us do after establishing NGOs, being activists, and starting social enterprises to help survivors never reaches them, nor is there any decrease in the number of people trafficked. Everyone works in silos after years of research as an ethnographer.
I finally took the call to start an organization called Impact and Dialogue Foundation, which would cater to reaching individuals at the grassroots (source areas) from where people were lured on the pretext of jobs, marriage, and love. I have been creating conversations with them as much as possible to prevent this heinous crime of trafficking.
Module 3 has been exciting and insightful. It has allowed me to explore and do a lot of introspection on my initiative. I have named my project, Suraksha (meaning protection), to prevent the trafficking of individuals from India after seeing the videos shared in the changemakers lab.
I have been able to reach around 50 people in the last few weeks and had conversations with people who hold power in some institutions
