Changemakers Module 2

Meeting with the District Social welfare team officers in Dibrugarh

My initiative had flagged off early this year and the modules provided in changemakers Lab have helped me a lot. I have got a direction to go ahead after following the module.

I established an organization Impact and Dialogue Foundation. One of my projects is in remote North East India, Assam

The most important aspect of my initiative was to collaborate with different stakeholders.

I had no contacts in the area,  where I work, it's 350 km away from my native. But it's an urgent need to focus on that particular place after all most of my survivors belonged to tea gardens, which is a major source area for trafficking. I knew I had to find some contacts to involve the authorities in my work, I went to explore the town and had to reach the people in charge, it was not easy, but my faith in me pushed me hard. It was early morning when I started after walking for a few kilometers, I saw a District Social Welfare office, but it was shut down, I started looking on google and finally got the contact number of the officer in charge, I motivated myself and called him up, it was a Sunday, he was polite enough asked me all details of my work, I told him I want to meet him and figure out how we could involve his team and create an impact, he told me to come the next day, I went to meet him the following day he welcomed me and introduced me to all his team, I shared about my initiative and the work we were doing in his area, I was excited as I didn't expect that much of support from him. My advocacy was something he was interested in and shared what help I need from him. I wanted to do a training with his staff and asked him if that was possible he immediately agreed and told me to share a date and he would send all his staff. I shared the entire program plan and schedule with him and the knowledge I had with them. He intervened by saying that he wants me to add Domestic Violence also along with trafficking and a total of 100 people will be there for the session. We have planned to do it after 15 days and I am busy planning, preparing, and doing field assessments so I can understand their needs and execute the same in the program

How did I apply Module 2 in my initiative (Power Flow)

Power Within- The changemakers lab gave me a lot of insights, it was a big introspection for me. I have always been a confident person when it came to public speaking. For example my work is very much responsible for the same.I  have to be on the face always, so public speaking has been my forte, however my writing skills took a back seat, I was always on the ground the amount of time spent on writing became very less, I became scared to even write a line. With the compulsion of sharing of stories and tasks being given by world pulse, i have been able to overcome that fear to a large extent

Power to-My initiative is power to in progress, the reason being the target group. I am implementing these initiative so we can curb trafficking and impact the community at large. My stories of survivors of trafficking has given so much courage to people around me and expecially to young girls who come from an underprivileged background

Power with- World Pulse has been a force behind me, they have shaped me for the better. I have got so much power from people around me, volunteers, villagers, every single individual who encourage me to take these initiative ahead. I have hold power with every sister from World Pulse.

Power over- some people hold power over me, for example, the stakeholders and this is one reason I am trying to meet and have regular conversations with them so we can explore, influence, and make them understand how important my initiative be implemented in the official level regularly

Sisters i am looking for inputs from everyone.

And collaborations and connections so i can take these project ahead.

Love and Light
