progress in my exercise regimen
I have shared 5 stories on World Pulse community platform which generated some interesting feedback the WP community on the issues of menopause and dealing with its symptoms among. It is very interesting and stunning to know that these women have welcomed the discussion and sharing on the topic of menopause, which is rarely spoken about especially in the African community. Its assumed every woman knows about what to expect and how to deal with these symptoms when they set in and yet no one speaks about them. The conversation has generated over 20 comments.
I am encouraged but I have also learned a lot from other women experiences through menopause and reading as I deal with menopause symptoms. I was wowed and excited and wowed to read comments from over 20 World Pulse women. I am excited and express gratitude for sharing such very useful information. some highlight of comments are below:
“Thank you for sharing this very useful information. I have picked quite a lot. The part one of this piece made me go to read on menopause and loss of muscle mass startled me. But now I know so I will take my exercises more seriously. I would want to know how hypoglycemia is linked with menopause. Thank you for sharing” Jefiter
“Very detailed and easy to comprehend. The power of exercise and healthy diet cannot be over emphasized. Let me start working out. Thank you’ Thelma
A young woman acknowledged that she had no information on menopause despite the fact that one day she will be confronted with its symptoms. “Wow! this is so informative and very simple to understand. I just could not take my eyes off as it is something new to me. Just came to me at the right time so that I have time to prepare in that when that time comes am ready and it is very key and that I will not be surprised like when menstruation knocked on my door. This is the information which should be given and taught to us women in school. Thank you Ikirimat” Brenda.
I also held conversations on menopause and dealing with its symptoms with about 12 friends on different occasions (tea break, lunch hour, weekend catch up or even unplanned meet ups etc) where we talked about self care/love as very key in focusing in dealing with some symptoms of menopause. With 2 of my accountability partners we are ensuring that exercise is part and parcel of the daily regimen. Its worth the investment.
I am encouraged but I have also learned a lot from other women and reading as I deal with menopause symptoms. I also held informal talks with about 12 friends on different occasions (tea break, lunch hour, weekend catch up or even unplanned meet ups etc) where we talked about self care/love as very key in focusing in dealing with some symptoms of menopause. It was interesting to hear 80% of these women I spoke to expressed that they are having knee joint pains but did not understand why. Its after our conversation on menopause symptoms that they were able to get an understanding the cause of those pains as menopause symptoms and why. One of these women expressed that she was told by the doctor she met that the knee pains where normal as women age BUT she was not told that it was a symptom of menopause. This is typical of our health system that don't take menopause as an issue that affects a woman and so does not warrant attention.
With 2 of my accountability partners we are ensuring that exercise is part and parcel of the daily regiment. Its worth the investment.
I have currently enrolled for a core transformative training for professional coaching (CMA) to enhance my skills to help others experience the powerful shift in thinking. Transformative coaching will enable change that is deep and sustainable. As I reach out to more women with information on menopause, I hope to use these skills to help other women.
