My goal in this initiative to close the disparity between boys and girls in school by enrolling and retaining girls to complete at least secondary School education and by providing menstrual sanitary products to those who can not afford.
That, comes with some financial cost. Without money almost nothing can be done to achieve this. Funding is needed to make this happen. It's like a bridge between my goal and the reality of it in my community.
My assignment covers how I have funded this initiative and how I have struggled with funding. I am open to feedbacks on ideas to better my funding method.
The sources of funding I have used have been
Personal funds, donations from family and friends, fundraisers, partnerships.
Personal funds: have been the closest available but has several times proved unreliable. The initiative is bigger than I can handle.
Donations: from family and friends have been very helpful. They are the charity given to me by family and friends in response to either formal or informal request to aid funding of this initiative. I have also received in kind donations.
Partnership
Problem is that they are not binding nor are they constant.
Fundraisers. I engaged this method to raise money for procuring reusable pads for 200 girls for International Day for the Girl Child. Though I got some ,the target was not met. I had used the social media sharing specific need and call to action.
The challenges of these methods is that it affects my planning. Many times I am constrained to plan since funds are not readily available.
So far on my social media platforms, I try to share compeling stories on the needs I am raising or on my work. With that people get to see my work and believe in what I do. Hopefully, they will share in it. For those who have donated, it is mostly one off, but I try to maintain a relationship and keep them abreast of the work's progress.
With the lessons from this module, I will be increasing the channels of funding so as to have a steady flow of funding. I will get into crowdfunding and applying for grants.
Let me get ideas on ways to better funding for this initiative please.
