Change Makers Lab Module 1: My take aways!

 The lessons in Module 1 are so loaded! Every one of the lessons are rich and insighful. The facilitators clearly took time to put together useful tools. For that, I am grateful. 

While Mapping my resources (lesson 5 ) I  added Change Makers Lab and World Pulse as part of my Professional community and Social capital respectively!

I and a member of my team tried to brain storm .

From lesson 3 , we had to revisit the  goal of this intiative to make it as SMART as possible so  the title changed from "Retaining Girls in school and Ending period Poverty" to  "School Retainment Initiative for Teenage girls". 

We broke down our goal into smaller goals.

1. Enrollment of girls who can not afford to be in school.

2. Continued  sponsorship/support of girls who are in school already through our support.

3. Distribution of reusable pads / disposable pads for girls who miss school because of period Poverty.

4. Advocacy and  sensitization to girls/ Parents/ communities/ leaders/ Schools etc. on importance of girl education and Menstrual Health Education.

 Measurable - Our Target is 5000 people in the total. 

1000 girls to reach with pads/ Enrollment/ frees support.

4000 girls + parents+ community leaders+ teachers.

Achievable- Yes ( though challenging).

We are raising funds for the fees ,we need to increase our fundraising to more people and organizations. 

Relevant- This initiative goes in line with our core values and objectives. Education is a basic  tool for change and empowerment.

Girls enrollment and Retainment will close the disparity between boys and girls in school and better the options a girl has in life.

Addressing period Poverty will help a girl stay on in school and compete favourable with her male counterparts.

Time bound: 2 years. This initiative is on going. It started in December 2021 and ends December 2023.

 From lesson 4.

I got to know the difference between Impact, Inputs, outputs.

I have committed to designing an evaluation plan early so I can collect data through the process and not wait till the end of the initiative.
