Building a Community for Change

Still on my Online Advocacy Training, i see the need to build a community. No matter how much change I can make alone, working with a community will amplify the advocacy, make more impact, help create ownership and ensure sustainability of the desired change. So building a community is not optional but a necessity.

As I advocate for the rights of girls living with disabiliities, I joined a local coalition of persons working for Child Protection which covers areas like GBV, Education, WASH , Nutrition, etc

In this Community, we all work to ensure that a child's full rights are respected and protected.

We all have different areas of consentration but we leverage on the strength of each other and refer cases to others as the case maybe.

We support each other to build capacity, and sometimes build partnerships for specific projects.

Working in a common terrain gives us shared interest, challenges and opportunities so when their are needs for advocacies, we join our voices to create more awareness.

An African proverb says" if you want to walk fast ,walk alone, but of you want to work very far, walk with others".
