Buffavento Castle...
Standing at 3,100ft and feeling the wind blowing, watching mares-tail clouds drifting lazily across the sky; turning 360 degrees, and gazing at the spectacular panorama. The castle seems visible, and tantalizingly for quite a while it never seems to get any closer. As the route twists and turns round a rocky bluff, the castle will disappear and then suddenly it is in view again.
Have you ever tried to do something on your own that just fell flat? What happened? Did you give the situation over to God? What happened then? I’ve never been the strongest person in the room. There are many things that I simply cannot pick up. So as frustrating as it may be, I’ve learned not to rely on my own physical strength. But relying on God.
I went on a trip to Buffavento Castle with friends and the height tested my strengths and weaknesses at the same time, I was given up but I realized that we think it’s when we’re strong that we’re strong. But no, it’s when we’re weak that we’re strong. It doesn’t make a bit of sense to the rational, logical mind. Only people of the Spirit understand how true it is.
We have to experience our powerlessness before we can experience our power.
Paul says he experienced God telling him, “My grace is sufficient for you. Power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor 12:9).
In conclusion, do not hide or avoid your weaknesses, but rather, embrace them, allowing God to strengthen you in ways you could never have imagined, God's provision in our weaknesses is much greater than any strength that we could muster on our own.
