Bridging the Information Gap: Human Rights in Rural Communities

On 19th January 2023 , Haki Nawiri Afrika in collaboration with Indigenous Women and Girls and Corps Africa co-organised a human rights training for youth in primary and secondary schools at Kaani ,in Machakos County .The objective was to empower young people on human rights and child protection to enable them demand and defend their rights and those of others and be able to identify various forms of abuse and how to respond to these. The session further involved donating clothes to the youth as well sanitary pads to the young people. There is a high demand for rights awareness in rural communities in Kenya , many a times rural areas do not access this information.

More similar initiatives are required in rural communities to make community members conscious of their rights.
