1/8 TEDxVail events in 2022 with calls to action on climate.
In the 8th TEDxVail online event of 2022, we'll complete the year October 30 with TEDxVailWomen PRESENTS. Several of iconic women leaders, Mary Robinson-former President of Ireland, Jane Fonda-actor and climate activist with Firedrill Fridays, and ANGÉLIQUE KIDJO - Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter are among the inspiring messengers we'll hear present themselves. For others who will be part of the larger TEDWomen 2022: https://conferences.ted.com/conference/tw2022/speakers To join us for our free online TEDxVail, register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tedxvailwomen-presents-tickets-426717372147 I am measuring my current impact by the numbers of participants and speakers engaging at these events.
We are gathering gals from around the globe to rise up our ideas and leadership so that we can connect across the generations, across the oceans, and across our own heartbreaks. We'll hear personal stories from speakers and each other during our breaks. Lift up your spirits. We women must manage a fogginess right now while we care for ourselves and each other as our living systems are fracturing all around us. Think of walking in an old-growth forest as the trees are falling around you and still you have the courageous flicker of life in you for your family and all our relations.
Initially, I understood the problem of human activity needed massive intervention. I wondered what could I do and what resources did I have to make a meaningful contribution? We were destroying our own home. Largely we did not realize what each of us was contributing to parasitic nature with Earth. We who are contributing to both the supply side of Earth systems breaking down- in massive extraction to produce things and the demand side - with Western mindsets of having to have the latest gadget, the most fashionable whatever, the most Xpensive something, the biggest/boldest/baddest...SUPERLATIVE destroying of our atmosphere, waters, lands, and air. What were solutions that we could easily do each day if we understood what they were? Would we be willing to make those changes? Behavioral change takes a minimum of 42 days. Habits from childhood and familiar patterns would need to be interrupted.
My vision is a business called TRUST Climate Action Strategists to change climate change among humans. Foolishly, I thought I was the world's first climate coach. I soon discovered there are 2,000 coaches globally who had already claimed that title for themselves. What made me different was that I was a longtime climate activist and came from action is the key to making change real. I continue to learn about ways to make that real, learning marketing for online events 2.5 years in a training called Live Event Acceleration Program. This is how I learned to do and Xecute four 3-day climate activations. That combined with soon to be 8 TEDxVail online events this year have produced hundreds of ideas connecting with people who care and for that I am immensely grateful. I continue to refine precisely to identify who would benefit from and pay for most urgently by being informed about their personal contribution and solutions for just and valued work where compassionate healthy living systems in secure communities are sufficient for all.
Inputs: online learning, participants through online events, charts, science, video clips of compelling TED Talks on climate from many angles, interactive platforms like ohyay/zoom/OBVIO.
Activities: learning marketing systems like KEAP for automations, quiz funnels for messaging and list building, challenges online and live on Facebook to gather a larger audience, coaching speakers for online event storytelling and calls to action on their part of Xpertise in climate solutions, and LEAP for the psychology of 3 day events.
Effects & Outputs: 12 climate-related online learning Xperiences with 300+ participants so far. Outcomes: increased climate awareness and individual behavioral changes including where people live, how they get around, what they eat, how they dress, and what they invest their time/talent/treasure into. Impact: increasingly making daily decisions to live lighter in Earth's living systems. These incremental nudges lead to reports of feeling less depressed because they are doing something that helps, less anxious because they can see the difference they are making by growing their own food or becoming more self-sufficient or respecting the interdependence of their community, and less overwhelm as participants have clearly defined calls to action from which to choose. Indigenous elders guide us now by saying the most important thing we can do is to heal ourselves.
Stakeholder mapping and nature of power: this is a continuously clarifying process. Casting the net widely through TEDx and LIVING BRIGHTLY 3-day climate activations has helped me understand that climate can be a cultural support for companies that want to retain younger workers who are concerned about climate. With this focus in 2023 TRUST will design a certification process and focus on Human Resources and Moms in Manufacturing to sustain the business while earning funds to protect the Yawanawa Amazon territory of 400,000 hectares. If I could reach 400,000 people each giving $1 for the Amazon we could fully fund their Territorial Life Plan. I wonder what viral clip could inspire that action?
TRUST CALL TO ACTION: show up, speak up, stand up, play up personal climate changes for global climate change. We'll host two 3-day climate activations in 2023. Who is ready, willing, and able to make their personal climate changes for climate change? TRUST Climate Action Strategists are ready, willing, and certifiably able to help! It's going to take everyone everywhere doing everything as quickly as possible. It's time to rebalance the unbalanced power and money structures that are causing women to spend 200,000,000 hours a day gathering water.
Online learning can be easy, fun, visually appealing, and intimately connective. It is the least costly way of sharing information. It is global in reach. Recordings can be shared or asynchronous learning. When designed as courses they can be accessed repeatedly if a specific problem is identified and we have the solution to share. It's beautiful to learn how to learn climate solutions.
