Be an Approachable Teacher

I practice the virtue of honesty with my students. I often tell them, in order for me to give you the best advice, you need to be honest with me or else we can't present easy solutions to complex problems concerning your life.

With the tag of a teacher, I have to put aside my judgments when I encounter a mistake my students got trouble with. I don't scold them for being wrong because if I do I give them the chance to be dishonest to me in utter fear of punishment.

I as a teacher need to provide the space from where mistakes can be changed to learning opportunities and for that giving the presence of conscious listening environment can take them in full confidence.

If a student is confident in your vibe and company, he opens up and this gives you a responsibility to teach them " how to be the best versions of themselves and learn from mistakes".

Giving punishment shouldn't be our end motive. A teachers goal is not to abuse power to humiliate students, but offer an environment where mistakes are redirected to newly built habits that support growth ; and for that honesty with putting judgement aside is the only key to!

I aim to be a teacher who will be remembered for her approachable attitude and therefore, I say that S/he who is unapproachable isn't a teacher.
