Assignment One

I have always believed that people are placed in your life for a reason. I recently encountered a person online who has introduced me to this website and the opportunity to air my voice across the globe; something I have always dreamt of doing, but never truly believed that the opportunity would present itself or that I would have the courage to attempt it for the fear of failure. Exploration of Voices of Our Future has filled me with an eagerness to share my life experiences with women from across the world with the hope to also learn and grow from the experiences of others.
Many people sit on God-given talents for various reasons such as, lack of formal education, lack of resources, fear of stepping out on faith, to name a few. Web 2.0 opens a door for the average person to share her thoughts, ideas, and beliefs with others. As far as women’s empowerment, Web 2.0 can enable women from all walks of life to come together as one body for the betterment of the gender regardless of race, creed or nationality. The cement which will bind is the fact that we are all women who have suffered some sort of repression, although some women have taken their rights for granted and forgotten the struggles that those who came before had to bare in order for us to stand strong today. Interacting with women from different societies serves as a reminder of progress that has been made and that which stills needs to come.
