An Injustice to the Differently Abled

Diverse specific impairments, social stigma, inadequate resources, poverty that affects their potential, discrimination, unemployment, and exclusion from family and community functions are among the injustices meted on the disabled. Over time new injustice has surfaced, that of an abled person acting disabled to dupe citizens. That is not only ridicule to the differently abled citizens but also an injustice since most incapacitated persons won’t get the necessary help they need out of people fearing that they are acting up.

We can’t keep quiet as such uncouth behavior grows among us. It is wrong to get help by impersonating, why laugh at their situation and think it is completely all right? Some of the most differently-abled persons have impacted society because they refused to be defined by disability so we should help them achieve their goals and end the notion that they are lesser in society because they are even better than most of the abled persons in the society.

From the above picture courtesy of Denish, I’m heartbroken that a capable person would not only act disabled but also drag an innocent baby in her skim. Imagine carrying the baby under scorching or heavy rains just for people to feel pity and drop a coin for you.

Times are hard but that doesn’t mean we should do the unthinkable just to make ends meet. Honesty and sincerity pay, let's embrace the virtues because vices are everywhere. There is dignity in labor and if you want to shy away from headwork please shy away from wanting better and stop adding to the burdens of others. Should the tables turn and she ends up disabled won’t she start cursing God? Let's watch our actions because there will always be consequences for everything.

Dear women, don’t let anyone pity you because pity will turn into disrespect somewhere along the line, and eventually being taken advantage of will be on the line. Find the perfect distraction such as casual jobs, talents, and skills, and shun doing despicable just to bring something to the table.

##THE END##
