ADVOCACY MODULE 5

   Impact simply means the action of one object coming forcibly into contact with another or to have an effect on someone or something , the effect is called impact . In advocacy the impact we build is not limited to our goal , it includes things that can change along the way because of our campaign or action . When the need of having a specific impact comes in , we arrange ourselves to have them. These things can be measured easily and are known as out puts , some examples are , hiring staffs required to implement a project investing in buildings and infrastructures, creating standards and legislative documents and more . These outputs contributes towards achieving the main goal which is known as outcome , and the best example is the percentage of those who attended training , to have outputs and outcomes one must invest inputs and the examples are , human resources , money , marketing materials , partnerships, training and more . For one to achieve a particular output he/ she must construct a recipe with relevant inputs to get it .

   After creating my inputs and envision my outputs , i identify a way to monitor the outputs and outcomes, and the best way is to decide in the planning stage . Measuring impact helps in knowing whether my campaign succeeded , changes to make , in documenting my truck records to help in seeking funds or partnership . One can measure impacts in two ways , quantitative measurement which involves collecting data while using numbers to find out if ones campaign was a success .The other method is qualitative, which is about evaluating impact that can not be measured for instance how one felt after a program or how ones behavior changed after training . For better results one must apply both methods. The other important matter is to document ones findings , it helps in the process of seeking funds or partnership . One can choose to write a reports documenting the entire campaign and include the impact as part of it , by using testimonials and quotes from ones community can make ones report impactful, it is important to prioritize authenticity and accountability .
