ADVOCACY MODULE 4 .

HOW I INTEND TO MOBILIZE A COMMUNITY AROUND MY CAUSE .

Community mobilization is a process of engaging communities to identify community priorities , needs , resources and solutions at the same time , it promotes representative participation , good governance , accountability and peaceful change . Community mobilization includes activities such as door to door outreach , public meetings, participatory theatre and more . Community is fundamental to any advocacy project , it helps to amplify the message , enjoin more members to participate , it puts pressure on those in power to make change possible , it also builds a strong legacy . Community advocacy also helps people feel more enabled to take control of their own lives and provides practical support to overcome issues

The key to naturing community is to establish stakeholders and creat opportunities , to hear from key stakeholders is important for advocacy projects . Reason being that any one who will join your cause sees value in doing so , and they are interested and concerned as I am . The connection with the cause is often a catalyst to mobilize ones community . One has to be steady , in that once ones community begins to join to shift the focus and efforts to naturing their engagement , to make sure that one's community remains or stays with you , I will emphasis in building and naturing my community by , being transparent , being accountable , by priotizing integrity , being inclusive , by respecting their suggestions and ideas , by giving due credit where it is required and more . Moreso , sustaining my community will ensure that my advocacy plan will meet constant sustainable support plus ensuring that accountability sees the campaign up to the end .

Mobilizing a community requires much effort , the best and easiest way is to , hold focus groups and forums to hear from members of the community , to establish sub groups among my community , to invite them contribute based on their skills time available and interest ( volunteering ) . To partner with another organization who engage the same stakeholders on a regular basis . I also intent to host roundtable discussions with my participants . This enables the community members to take control of their own lives and inturn they provide practical support to overcome issues . And when they contribute they end up gaining ownership over the campaign .
