Ad Astra, Per Aspera

To the skies through bolts and bars!

During my Bachelor’s programme, Latin was one of the compulsory courses as a student of Classics and Linguistics. Did I love the course? Oh, no! Although Latin and Greek are the grandparents of languages, I loathed Latin because I felt it was boring. However, there was one line that stuck with me. You guessed it….” ad astra, per aspera.” It became my mantra for a long, long while. It simply means “To the skies through bolts and bars,” summarising my reflections on the Changemakers' Lab Modules 6 & 7.

It has been a privilege to be a pioneer member of the Changemakers’ Lab. All the lessons resonated with me, and I enjoyed the synergy of each meeting. The EmpowHer Initiative has grown beyond the expectation of the team with South Africa experience, where we were happy to make a heavy impact with institutional support.

Hence, my reflection of the insights received from the Changemaker's Lab is encapsulated in “ad astra, per aspera.” Our best is yet ahead; we have only just begun!
