This is the question on the minds of many in Nigeria. The campaigns for the 2023 General Elections are over. Tomorrow, Nigeria gets to decide who will take over the role of steering the ship called Nigeria. Fingers are crossed, hearts are panting in anticipation of the outcome.
The outcome! What it will be will tell if we have suffered enough. It will show if the untold hardship we have been exposed to has taught us vital lessons that our choices reflect who we are as a people. Have we learnt that it is only what we allow that happens? Have we learnt that we have the right to say no to bad governance, do we yet know that the voices of the people is stronger than just few individuals who instead of serving us, serve their purposes and selfish interest? Have we learnt that the our votes should not be in favour of our tribes and religion, but for competence and abilities. The votes cast will show if we have been healed of voter's apathy, knowing that we are all stakeholders in the business called Nigeria.
In times past, the one who dishes out money the most wins at the polls. People collect stipends and hand over their voters' cards .We will know if that will play out this time around.
Arise ,o compatriots! The soul of Nigeria calls out to be saved from the clutches of corruption, from the grips of greedy politicians, from the stronghold of nepotistic and tribal bigots, from choking hands of lawless and compassionless leaders. Will you heed the call?
By tomorrow the die will be cast. Will it be in favour of a new Nigeria or the old order?
Nigeria, I wish you better leaders. Leaders that will go the way, and show the way to a land flowing with milk and honey. I pray for a land where anybody can be somebody. I pray you thrive again and be the giant that you once were.
I hope freedom will come tomorrow.
