A Digital Home for African Women to Unlearn, Heal, and Remember Who They Are

I'm Rehema, writing from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

For years I've watched women around me — myself included — carry mindsets that were never ours to begin with. Ideas about our worth, our bodies, our ambitions, our place in the world, quietly handed down through colonization, religion twisted into control, and cultures that taught us to shrink. I started asking: what would it look like if African women had a space built specifically to unlearn that, and to come home to ourselves?

That question became a mobile app I'm building — bilingual, in English and Swahili — for Tanzanian women and the wider African diaspora. It's not another generic self-help platform. It's rooted in African identity, ancestry, and community, organized around five pillars:

1. Mind & Mental Wellness — decolonizing the mindsets we didn't choose
2. Self-Trust & Identity — rebuilding the relationship with ourselves
3. Love & Relationships — healthier patterns, healthier love
4. Spirit & Ancestry — reconnecting with what was taken or buried
5. Culture & Community — celebrating who we are, together

The vision is simple: free in mind, free in spirit.

Where things stand

This isn't just an idea on paper — I have already started building the app. But I need funding to finish it: development costs, content expansion, and getting it into the hands of the women it's for.

Why I'm asking here

World Pulse is a sisterhood of women who understand what it means to build something because no one else will build it for you. I'm not asking for charity — I'm asking for investment in something that centers African women's healing and identity, made by one of us, for us.
