250 WIDOWS BENEFICIARIES AT THE COMMUNITY PROJECT LOCATION
The Akinlalu community played host to Mordecai Care Foundation of Nigeria, when the foundation carried out an empowerment program tagged WEL(Women Empowerment for Life) for the women in the community.
The women in the community were taught how to make quality liquid soap which can be used for washing clothes and plates. The ED of Mordecai Care Foundation of Nigeria anchored the program while workshop facilitator Mrs Awolowo took the women through the process of making the quality liquid soap. She showed them the ingredients used for it one after the other. Thereafter, she allowed the women to see how different ingredients are mixed separately in different bowls with appropriate measurements in order to get the correct quality of the liquid soap.
IMPACT: The impact of the Women Empowerment for Life workshop has tremendous positive influence on the women of Akinlalu Community.Out of more than 250 women who participated in the workshop, they all indicated their interest to be making and selling the liquid soap which they were taught at the workshop as their means of income. While others showed interest to use it as an additional means of income to enable them to gain financial independence as well as assisting their spouses in their various homes.Moreso, some women also indicated their interest to learn tailoring/fashion designer which include sewing of clothes and making of bags. They made it clear that they will endeavor to undergo the training at our center because the learning is free.
