Giving the girls tips on how to have healthy and hygienic periods..
SCHOOL OUTREACH
85 in two schools girls were taught how to maintain healthy and hygienic periods. Disposal of menstrual products properly in pit toilets or wrapping them up before dropping in bins. The girls were told never to drop their pads into water closet toilets.
They were taught what menstruation is, why it happens and how to take care of their bodies during their periods. Not properly keeping themselves clean will enhance bad body smells. And not knowing what to do will promote unhygienic practices which can affect their health and confidence.
They were also thought how to know their cycles. This will help them prepare in advance and help them monitor their periods to know if it is regular or not. And to know when to report any menstrual health problem to their parents and to the Doctor.
Debunking of menstrual myths and taboos.
Ouestions and answers on individual issues. The girls asked personal questions about their bodies.
RETAINING GIRLS IN SCHOOL.
5 girls living with disabilities have been identified and will be included in this initiative.
10 girls school fees paid to help retain them in school. More funds will be needed to pay for fees of girls yet to be included in this.
The meetings were quite interactive.
